What’s Everyone Saying about Blade Runner 2049???

Quite a lot, actually. It hits theatres Thursday night and features a bevy of Hollywood heavyweights. Ya know, like Harrison Ford, Ryan Gosling, and Jared Leto (OMG!!!). Critics and layfolk alike have flooded the internet with their opinions – from critical reviews to the downright bizarre – on the follow-up to Ridley Scott’s 1982 dystopian classic, Blade Runner. Here’s a roundup of all the goodies:

The New York Times

A.O. Scott has high praise for director Denis Villeneuve, “From the opening aerial shots of a thoroughly denatured agricultural landscape and the lethal confrontation that follows, we know we are in the presence of a masterly visual tactician and shrewd storyteller.”

Congrats, Mr. Villeneuve!

The L.A. Times

Kenneth Turan of the L.A. Times also has a positive take on director Villeneuve’s adaptation, “Villeneuve and company have cast a powerful and disturbing visual spell, thrusting us into a world compelling enough to get lost in.”

Tech Crunch

Some simply thought it wasn’t as good as the original.

Vice

Others, like Vice, are saying don’t even bother with the movie, just watch this hilarious interview with Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford instead.

Harrison Ford looks surprisingly good for a 75-year-old.

BuzzFeed

BuzzFeed couldn’t get over Ryan Gosling’s collar in the film’s poster…

It IS a weird collar, though.

Mashable

And if you’re like me this article by Mashable is very appropriate.
